Politics

January 30, 2008 at 5:36 pm (Bio, Deep Thoughts, Replies) (, , )

A friend of mine asked whether I posted about politics and my views on politics on the blog, I did once; I wrote a piece on my disgust regarding Pauline Hanson. But other than that, nothing much. this led me to ponder on whether I should really care that much about politics. the fact is, I’m still a teenager and still quite immature.

Most kids my age would be hard pressed to know the name of the state’s premier. Not many of us really care about the dredging of Port Phillip Bay, or the desalination plant or Tolls on the Mitcham-Frankston Freeway (unless you live in the near vicinity of the plant or freeway), we let our parents deal with that. When Students protested against the HECS reform, I didn’t really care, now I do since I am to start university soon.

And then there’s the question of whether I should care about, or even pay attention to Indonesian politics. I know I don’t plan on moving back permanently but I’m quite sure my parents want to go back at some point in their lives and it is the country I was born in.

Recently,  in Indonesia, Soeharto passed away. For those who do not know he was Indonesia’s second president. Though he helped to modernise Indonesia, He ruled with an iron fist and infringed on numerous human rights to ensure his power.

Upon hearing this my thoughts were oh.. interesting..while my parents were listening to the newscast quite intently.

I have to say that this made me feel a little bit of guilt, I felt like I should probably care more.

I Am Such A Guy

January 25, 2008 at 11:10 am (Foolishness, Good, ingenuity) (, , , )

As you should’ve read in the previous post, I got a new belt.

It turned out to be just a couple of centimeters too big, I needed to make an extra holes.

Simple.

Actually no.

I tried using a screw driver, a knife and even a metal cake skewer to punch the hole.

None of them worked.

So what do guys do when faced wit an unsolvable problem?

Bring out the power tools!!

And which power tool makes holes in stuff?

Well almost all of them really……

But that’s beside the point.

I used a drill.

I found the drill bit that matched the other holes, And I let it rip.(yay beyblades!)

Now my belt fits <(^_^)>

Waistline

January 25, 2008 at 6:36 am (Good, ingenuity) (, , , , )

Wow this is early it’s like 6:30 but I can’t get to sleep, so I might as well write a post…

I went to a Big W the other day to stock up on back to school crap.

While I was walking through the store I saw a rack of belts.

I thought, I guess I could use a new belt, it’s not like I particularly like the belt I was currently wearing, so I went o buy the belt.

When i got there I saw that he belts came in the following sizes;

87 cm
92 cm
97 cm
104 cm

Then I realised, I didn’t know my measurements, and I couldn’t exactly go into a dressing room with just a bunch of belts.

That would look totally weird.

I had a dillema.

How was I supposed to find which one fit me.

(I wasn’t about to try them on ot there either…)

I then just decided to forget about it.

Maybe the fates didn’t see me buying a belt that day

So I went to Jeans West, I wanted a new pair of jeans.. obviously…

As I was trying out various pairs of denims I realised, the tags on the jeans had waist measurements on them (I was 88 cm)

I put back the pairs I was trying on and left the store without a purchase.

I didn’t really like anything I saw.

I went back to Big W and took a 87 cm belt.

A ring ding ding ding d-ding baa aramba baa baa barooumba

January 20, 2008 at 8:59 pm (Anouncements, Good) (, , , , , )

This morning I felt like I needed a change, so I decided to change my phone’s ring tone.

Right now, it’s the basic ringer that ye olden day phones used to have.

I didn’t want to use some dumb currently #1 song that everyone will get sick of by the end of the week so I decided to do some scouring over the net for some iconic pop icon that I could dismember, and I’ve narrowed down my choices to the following two …songs?;

An edited (by me) version of the Ruby Gloom theme song (the hottest thing since Hello Kitty)

The opening cheer from Bring it on that year 2000 Kirsten Dunst film about cheerleading

I wish I could make up my mind…..

Gobsmacked

January 17, 2008 at 5:16 pm (Good) (, , , )

I sometimes just randomly go through the quotes posted on Not Always Right whenever I’m bored.

It’s usually good yet nothing overly remarkable but then I came across this one;

(This happens while I’m checking out another patron’s books.)

Library patron, screaming and pointing at me, elbowing other patron out of the way: “WHY DIDN’T YOU TAKE THE CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP OFF THE STOVE???”

Me: “Um, I’m sorry, ma’am, I’m helping someone right now….”

Library patron: “You let it get all FATTY on the top!!!”

Me: “…I’m sorry?”

(Library patron begins to cry.)

Me: “Why are you crying?”

Library patron: “I don’t know, cuz dads are microwaving their kids and sh*t!”

Me: …

I had to re-read it a couple of times and I was literally left somewhat dumbfounded, my mind just went blank.
